A RICH AND

HERITAGE

KUBŌ stands for KULTUR BAYANIHAN ŌSTERREICH

It celebrates the Filipino experience through cultural traditions, art & dialogue.
It is inspired by the Filipino spirit of communal unity called bayanihan where people come together to lift and support one another towards a common goal.

It was born from the desire of young people in Austria to be seen, heard, and understood as authentic storytellers of both their Filipino heritage and their European home.

ABOUT SENTRO

Sentro ng Kultura at Wika ng Austria at Pilipinas/Center for Austrian and Filipino Culture and Languages (Sentro) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, and non-political association. Its main goal is to highlight the importance of both cultures for the identity of children and youth. It was established in Vienna in 2010 by Arlene Castañeda and has been directed by her ever since.

Sentro’s members are volunteers. They are full-time professionals, yet they provide their talents and free time to support the association’s projects and activities, such as Tagalog language classes, cultural presentations, lectures about the Philippines and the Filipino community in Austria, webinars, summer camps, and fundraisers, among others.
